I have nursed Jeffrey to sleep ever since it worked at a few months old. It was fail-proof, and I just had to sit there. Why wouldn't I do it?!? Two nights ago, however, the unthinkable happened. He didn't fall asleep. I was terrified. What do I do? He was extremely relaxed, so I just rocked him a bit and then put him down. He let out a little peep when I laid him in his crib, but a few back pats and rubs (along with Mr. Seahorse, of course) and he was out. For the whole night. Unsure of what to think about what just happened, I wrote it off as a fluke. Until it happened again last night. Same exact thing, except that he didn't even make a single peep when I laid him down.
I never thought we'd be able to get him asleep without nursing him completely down. I guess we can. I'm so proud of him, but I'm terrified. No doubt this is that next step towards being completely weaned. Thank all that is good that he still nurses all the way down for naps!
