Attic Plumbing is DONE!

So, another week without a picture update of our bathroom. At least I can say that all of the pipes have been replaced and attached in the attic, which ended up being quite the undertaking! I'm glad to have water in our house again. Only a few more little things with the plumbing in the actual bathrooms until we'll start seeing some progress! Next week shall be much more exciting of an update, I hope.

However, We have decided on the theme. We found these cute little prints on Etsy, and we're basing it off of them. The walls will be blue with an orange stripe, and we'll have mainly orange accents with some white. It should be pretty cute. I've already started shopping!

Happy Easter!

Here's a Flashback to Easter 2010

We had a great weekend at the Farm with my family. Jeffrey just ate up having so much attention and absolutely loves playing with his cousin. We went to an egg hunt on Saturday which was a bit long-winded before the actual hunting, but it was a fantastic and relaxing weekend overall.

17 Months!

What an incredible stage of life this is. He's constantly learning, and he shows me at least one new skill a week. He's all about mimicking the sounds/words that I make, and he's really focusing on his fine motor skills. I am in constant amazement on how much he is soaking it. Not to mention, he's just really really fun now. It's so amazing to be able to just watch him play, knowing that he doesn't need to me to watch his every step anymore. He's getting so old, and there is nothing left of a baby in him.

17 month stats:

  • about 22 lbs 6 oz and 32 inches, I'd guess
  • wearing 12-18 month clothes
  • consistently sleeping about 9-7ish with about a 1.5-2 hour nap each day
  • 8 teeth! The second molar just popped through TODAY. There are three more teeth coming along.
  • uses a fork and a spoon all of the time and using a bib less times than he is. He can even do soup with a spoon!
  • can jump off of something (if it's low) and land on his feet
  • hangs on the monkey bars for a good 30 seconds or so
  • Favorite food: raisins!
  • Favorite activity: running like a fool around his table. Constantly. Preferably with Coco, our dog.

So much progress!

Except not. Ha.

If you want to see a picture of what our bathroom currently looks like after a week, feel free to look at last week's post. Sigh. This plumbing overhaul is the death of me, especially since our time plan had us finishing up this week. Definitely not the case currently. A combination of being super busy (swim lessons, tournaments, etc) and shipping times (again) didn't make for a very efficient work week. It wasn't a total waste; there has been a few hours of work done up in the attic, but that doesn't make for good pictures. Jony's actually considering taking a vacation day to finish up all the plumbing so that we can really get started in putting the bathroom back together. We shall see what gets done in the next week! I'm not too hopeful since we're going out of town for Easter weekend on Thursday...

Bathroom: A Week Later

2 weeks in, and there's not a whole lot more to show for it than there was last week (although it is cleaner!). Shipping time got in the way. With the decision to do the plumbing overhaul came the need to order all the new stuff that is needed to do such a thing. So, we waited. A lot ending up getting done, but most of the work was up in the attic. So, the weekly pictures are not so exciting. You can see that the pipes are all finished up and ready to have two (as opposed to the original one) sinks and can see where the new pipes (called pex?) are hanging down ready to be connected to the water line. We have one more shipment that we're waiting on to complete all of the plumbing, so next week will sadly look much like this week. At least things are happening, although it may be much slower than it was supposed to be!

In the past week, we (Jony, lol) have accomplished:

1. finishing the new sink drainage system
2. running all of the new plumbing tubes through the attic and dropping them in the correct locations

A Little Girl

After an evening of hanging out with my niece and her girl cousins and then a day walking around a festival filled with little shops of tu-tus, bows, and cute frilly things, I am publicly admitting that I want a little girl. I'm not a girly girl, but how fun would it be to dress up a daughter in adorable clothes and accessories? I would love it. Jony already has a mini version of himself, and I want one, too. I feel that little pain in my heart whenever I hear people tell Jony that "there's no doubt he's your son!" I feel a sense of pride (because I think Jony is pretty attractive- a good choice for me to clone, if you ask me), but also jealousy. I know that Jeffrey would be an amazing big brother to a little sister. It would be just too much fun.

Don't get me wrong. I want another boy, too. It's hard to have a major preference, and that's a good thing. Given my husband's family history, I'll be a mom of all boys. I would absolutely love that, but it'll be sad to continually pass up those cute little stores. I suppose our bank account will be much fatter, though.

A week later

It looks crazier than it really is, and it's since been cleaned up. We're feeling really good about how things are going now! It's a bit behind schedule already, but what can you do when you're working around a full time job, naptimes, and bedtime schedules? Our original goal was Easter, but we should for sure be finished by Mother's Day! The main reason for the delay is that Jony decided to do a major plumbing overhaul of the majority of the house. He said it needs to be done, and it's easier to do while it's all exposed. It just so happens that the majority of our pipes are along the wall in that second photo (minus our master bathroom sink and the kitchen sink/dishwasher). We're having to wait for the pex (?) to come in before he can do it, but he has the pipes all cut off (and capped off, no worries!) so that it's all ready to go in once it arrives on Friday. In the meantime, he'll be finishing up the drainage for the sinks since we're putting in two where there used to be only one.

So far, we've accomplished:

1. complete demolition: walls, bath tiles, counters, closet doors, toilet, and floor (along with some pipes, as mentioned earlier)
2. replacing of a few studs and a footer (I made Jony use the pink wood, lol)
3. prep work for new plumbing pipes
4. the starting of the new sink drainage system

We'll see what happens by next week!
